BIOGRAPHY
LUCY JANE TURPIN
(b. 1983 Johannesburg, SA)
“The mind and body cannot be separated during productive action. My practice is informed by experience, that to which I carry and to which I encounter. My mark making is self-generating which aligns with intention, intuition and impulse. I am both an artist and a teacher and I see these two practices as informative and equally important.” – LJ Turpin
Lucy Jane Turpin completed her Honours Degree in Fine Arts at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in 2007, and her Master’s Degree cum laude at the University of Stellenbosch in 2015. She has since taken part in residencies in Iceland, Morocco and most recently Italy, where she is currently based.
